Moloa'a Bay offers picturesque scenery and a great spot for a wedding when the ocean is calm and winds are light, particularly throughout the summer. The shades of blue and green with light shimmering off the ocean are captivating. At Moloa'a Bay, you will immediately recognize the half-mile long unique mix of both luscious golden brown sand and black lava rock to venture upon. The backdrop of thick green hillsides and ranch lands accentuates the most beautiful contrast of colors to this perfectly shaped bay.
Just like many of Kauai's beaches, the water at Moloa'a Bay has its safest conditions during the summer. Both the east and west sections of the bay have small but good snorkeling areas. A beautiful hiking trail wanders along the coast toward Larsen's beach and is about 1 mile round trip. Compared to all the beaches on the north shore, Moloaa Bay experiences the least amount of rain. Parking is very limited and may be an issue on weekends, but the beach is quiet during the week.
Moloaa Bay was the location chosen to shoot the pilot episodes of the famous TV series Gilligan's Island.
